Our Story
House of Eli provides young men a place to call home while being provided services for independent living to become healthy adults within a Christ-centered environment.
After fostering boys and young men in their home over several years and serving as a volunteer at a local juvenile detention center, Tawni Hodge and her husband, Brad, had an idea of creating a home for boys within and exiting in the Juvenile Justice system. It was through these experiences that she saw the need, and the vision for the House of Eli and thus the home was born.
Today, House of Eli has evolved into a comprehensive program that includes a transitional living, vocational training, and business entrepreneurship program based on modeling healthy family. We are a work WITH program that helps these young men---really unprepared kids who have never been given the tools needed to succeed but are expected to be adults at 18---build a foundation for healthy, independent, and productive lives in a Christ-centered, family environment which leads to lasting change. Tawni Hodge and Laura Ayers share co-directorship of this 12–to-18-month immersive program. As House of Eli continues to grow and enrich its programs, the vision of its founders remains clear: to empower these young men with the skills, confidence, and support necessary to succeed.
